McDonald‘s has been featuring a streak of Asian Americans’ talents in its marketing campaigns, and we can’t get enough of it!
Earlier this year, f(x)‘s own Amber Liu managed to snag her own project with the fast food giant. In collaboration with Wong Fu Productions and YouTuber Mike Bow, Amber was featured as part of McDonald’s “Classics with Bacon” campaign. This made her the first K-pop idol to be featured in a mainstream commercial in the U.S., the realization taking her by surprise after she was informed of the fact in an interview with WTK.
Now, for the third time, the award-winning dance crew Kinjaz teamed up with the Golden Arches on a mission to bring a big shot of energy into an otherwise sleepy breakfast.
The latest commercial by the group features members Anthony Lee, Lawrence Kao, Vinh Nguyen, JD McElroy, and Justin Valles sleepwalking their way into McDonald’s where they are greeted by a fresh, hot, delicious-looking breakfast that immediately strips away their zombie-like state.
Anthony Lee, who co-created the crew, expressed his thoughts in a press release.
“Breakfast is an important part of the day for all Kinjaz members, and we’re honored to work with McDonald’s again, from our first local breakfast delivery for All Day Breakfast in 2015 to the current national campaign. It’s inspiring and uplifting to see McDonald’s continuing to support our community of talented and diverse performers.”
Behind the scenes of the video, a key team of Asian-Americans lent their hands to help create the final result. Jon Shih and Gerald Nonato handled the visuals while Mike Song, LeeJ Razalan, and Addy Chan worked on the production. Each person is someone who has hugely contributed to the development and evolution of dance.
Kinjaz came into existence in 2010 and has been delivering intricate choreographies and skilled artistic expressions though dance and media ever since.
Kudos to McDonald’s for continuing to feature talented Asian-Americans in their new campaigns!
