Yoo Yeon Seok Totally Transforms For Role As Transgender Singer

Yoo Yeon Seok, star of Kdramas like “Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim,” is ready to impress fans with one of his most challenging roles yet!

King Kong Entertainment has released a black-and-white photo of the actor for his upcoming musical, “Hedwig and The Angry Inch.” The picture was released on the company’s official Instagram account. The handsome, young actor looks sexy, but has a glint of worry in his eyes as he stares into the distance.

 

In the next image released, Yoo Yeon Seok is seen with a totally different look altogether. He looks glamorous in a blonde wig and heavy makeup as he Hedwig, the lead character in the musical.

Hedwig and The Angry Inch” is an award-winning rock musical about a fictional band that’s fronted by a transgender, East German singer named Hedwig Robinson, a person who escapes their painful past and is reborn with a passion for music. It was written by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask in 1998 and draws heavily from the life of Mr. Mitchell and the German woman who used to be his babysitter.

The musical will be held at the Hong-ik University Art Center, starting August 18th and running until November 5th. The musical premiered in South Korea in 2005. It is a hugely popular show that has run nine season in total, with over 2,000 shows staged overall in history.

Yoo Yeon Seok is also known for his roles in films like “Mood Of the Day,” “Whistle Blower,” and “The Beauty Inside.”

Other Korean actors who have portrayed the roles of Hedwig are Jo Jung Suk, Byun Yo Han, Cho Sung Woo and Yoon Do Hyun.
