YG Entertainment has taken action towards the singer accused of plagiarizing “Eyes, Nose, Lips.”
Earlier today, news broke when fans realized a singer named Albina had evidently plagiarized Taeyang‘s hit song. The Russian artist released the song on her YouTube channel yesterday, claiming it was an original song written by herself. Almost immediately, it came to the attention of fans that the song was strikingly similar to “Eyes, Nose, Lips.”
In the past, many people have been accused of plagiarizing Kpop songs, but in this case, there was no denying the songs are nearly identical and included only minor variations. The chorus especially is shockingly similar, and even the arrangement of the song is almost the same note for note. As fans began to complain and leave comments, the singer quickly disabled comments on her video.
As the issue grew, YG Entertainment moved to respond as well. After the label contacted YouTube directly, the Russian singer’s song was removed due to copyright claims (as seen in the screenshot below). Across the internet, there are now almost no versions of the song still up.
With YG’s quick response to the issue, it seems they are not taking the plagiarism lightly and will most likely take legal action against the singer.
