WTK REVIEW: Day Two Of KCON LA 2018 Draws Things To An End With Explosive Performances

Day two of KCON LA was just as exciting as the first day, seeing as the crowd just kept wanting more as the night drew to an end!

The second night started with a special violin performance by Echae Kang, who did not fail to amaze the audience with his impressive skills. DREAMCATCHER‘s performance followed, igniting an unimaginable amount of cheers in the air. Their red outfits were a great addition to giving a bold start to the concert. You could tell the girls perfected every inch of their dance and singing for “You and I” and “Good Night,” as well as a special stage later of Camila Cabello’s “Havana,” showing their sexy and smooth moves.

Some of the solo artists who performed included the talented Chungha, heartstrings artist Roy Kim, and YouTuber-artist Jun (JunCurryAhn). Chungha knew how to get the audience on their feet with performances like “Love U” and “Rollercoaster,” some of her most popular songs. She even did a rendition of Ariana Grande’s “God is a Woman” for her special stage— riling up fans, as well as gaining new fans along the way! Her presentation was beautifully orchestrated.

Roy Kim was a great mood changer with songs like “Only Then,” “Bom Bom,” and “The Blower’s Daughter,” a Damien Rice song of which his own cover did not fall short of in any regard. His guitar performances and soothing voice were an excellent blend that made you feel at home as he charmed the audience during his second (and much anticipated) time to KCON LA.

Meanwhile, Jun gave it his all in his new track “Hold It Down,” demonstrating his suave side and fresh vocals. The talented artist performed a small cinematic-like violin performance as well, but Jun definitely had the audience on their feet over his catchy, new song and unbelievably impressive dance moves.

IMFACT and fromis_9 were a few of the performers that made for a great turn in mood. IMFACT performed “The Light” and “Nanana” which had the right energy for a Sunday concert. Judging from people’s conversations as they left the venue after the concert, IMFACT gained many new fans through their performance and had people swarming to their official music videos to learn more.

As for fromis_9, their sweet vocals and dances were something you wished you could just tangibly squeeze! Based on the audience’s reactions, “DKDK” was a bright, new track that matched the popularity of  their songs “To Heart” and “Glass Shoes.” A special stage performance of “Where They From” by Missy Elliot shocked viewers as well, given such a twist in mood and showing just how smooth and cool the members were with their gorgeous, coordinating black outfits.

New performers at KCON LA included NU’EST W and PENTAGON, who each brought in a new crowd to the festival this year. NU’EST W chose four songs for KCON, including their ballad “Polaris,” hit tracks “Dejavu” and “Where You At,” as well as a groovy B-side track called “Look.” The audience could not help dancing along to the group’s almost contagious energy and great performances.

PENTAGON also had the venue constantly singing since their song “SHINE” was a huge crowd favorite, though the same excitement could be felt with “Beautiful” and “Runaway.”

SEVENTEEN was unbelievable as the final performer of the night, pumping up the crowd once more. The group performed their hit tracks such as “Mansae,” “Very Nice,” “Our Dawn is Hotter than Day,” and “Oh My!”  Special stages were not a surprise as well considering this group’s popularity, so each of their units performed a track. The hip-hop unit and vocal unit performed “Duck Down” and “Don’t Listen in Secret” respectively, while the performance unit chose to perform “Lilili Yabbay.” The three units evoked the fan in everyone who were not expecting anything less than amazing from these talented members.

All in all, the second night KCON wrapped up the special weekend perfectly with a night full of fun and smiles. A place and convention that can bring friends and family together with good music? We’re all in for that!
