The powerhouse Kpop group MONSTA X just finished their new U.S. tour, entitled 2018 MONSTA X World Tour ‘The Connect’ In The U.S. As the group continues their global journey, let’s take a moment to look back on the U.S. leg of the sold-out tour.
Stopping in seven major cities across the United States, the hard-hitting idol group rocked each venue to rousing success. Fans went wild for the seven-member group as they performed both some of their new tracks, as well as fan favorites from previous albums. The members also took to the stage for special collaboration performances, such as Jooheon and Shownu’s cover of Bruno Mars’ “Versace on the Floor.”
MONSTA X was formed through a music survival show in 2015 and took the Kpop world by storm with their macho image and fierce tracks. With both stunning vocals and amazing dance skills, this is one group that is bound to please every person in the audience. Both new fans and older fans alike couldn’t control their excitement as the group performed songs like “Jealousy,” “Destroyer,” “Beautiful,” and more.
With glittering costumes, the group started the show by rising out of the floor amid lights, pulsing music, and a smokey stage. When most Kpop groups come to the U.S. on tour, they use a smaller scale stage for the shows—costing less and being more reasonable for travel. However large the venues for MONSTA X’s tours, they still made a huge effort with their stage. The design was a two-story set with a rising platform and sliding screens that could move in order to make the stage bigger. The effect was definitely impressive, despite it not being an arena-size venue like most Asian shows.
The group has long since been popular for their high energy and charisma onstage, as well as their charming personalities and fun sense of humor off stage. With an energy level befitting a just-debuted rookie group, MONSTA X delivered strong performances that shook the venue from the loud music and even louder screams of the fans.
While many idol groups in Kpop are fierce dancers, sometimes they only have one or two strong vocalists in the group. However, MONSTA X showed that their strength not only lies in choreography, but in amazing vocal performances from all members. From the main vocalist to the dancers, everyone has gorgeous, strong voices that sometimes can’t be fully appreciated in their dance numbers and music videos. However, their live performances truly allowed fans to hear the strength of their skills.
The fans were already pumped up at the beginning of the night, but as the show went on, the guys truly rocked the house! When the time came for the end of the night, the yells for an encore were nearly deafening. When the talented group finally came back onstage for another performance, you could barely hear the music due to the fans’ enthusiastic cheers.
Various members of WTK were present at each of the stops for MONSTA X’s tour, and the group managed to deliver amazing, high-energy performances at every single stop. Without a doubt, there is a reason why MONSTA X has quickly become a staple in Kpop and gained so many fans internationally.
