Kim Taeheon and Sung Changyong, best friends of the same age, have formed a duo called 1989 after the year of their birth and made their eclectic debut on October 5th KST.
The title track is called “Jjiritjjirit,” a Korean term meaning an electrifying feeling. The retro dance song can be sung by people of all ages with its comical and addictive chorus, taking inspiration from Korean duo Country Kko Kko who swept the music scene with their similarly witty lyrics and catchy songs in the 90s.
Changyong’s classic vocals that gained him recognition on the JTBC variety-music show “Hidden Singer 6” are impressively pleasing to the ear. Meanwhile, Taeheon’s charismatic rap and vocal tone that earned him devoted fans as a member of idol group ZE:A bring a modern touch to the track. The comedic music video is wildly fun and entertaining, superbly reflecting the nature of the song.
Taeheon made his debut in the Star Empire boy group in 2010 and showed many different sides of himself through various activities. Known for his athleticism, he was the first idol to become a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, even fracturing his nose in his 2014 debut match. On the other hand, Changyong captured the attention of both the public and the panel on “Hidden Singer 6,” where he appeared as an impersonator for singer Kim Won Jun.
