On June 29th at 6 p.m. JST, the extraordinary girls of XG dropped the music video for their powerful comeback track, “MASCARA.”
The song blends trap and pop elements, creating a unique but catchy sound. The empowering lyrics are about not wasting another moment with someone who doesn’t appreciate you and not letting your mascara be ruined by tears for a person who doesn’t deserve you.
Korean hip-hop artists Hwaji and Wutan, who both worked on XG’s debut “Tippy Toes,” participated in writing and composing “MASCARA.” Producer JAKOPS (more commonly known as Simon of K-pop boy group DMTN) also composed the song.
Canadian singer-songwriter Aleesia, who is behind hits like “I’ll Be Yours” by Girl’s Day and “Playback” by Playback, participated in writing and composing. Moreover, the Swedish production duo Caesar & Loui also worked on the composition of “MASCARA.”
