On May 21st KST, XG returned packing a bold punch with their latest single and its music video, “WOKE UP!”
The song is described as “an unconventional song form composed entirely of rap that was previously unseen by XG, and is a track with 808 bass and sounds unique to Northeast Asia.” XG’s executive producer JAKOPS perfectly channels the group’s fiery spirit and desire to break stereotypes into the song.
XG, full name Xtraordinary Girls, is a seven-member hip-hop/R&B group with an intergalactic concept under XGALX. It is composed of Chisa, Hinata, Jurin, Harvey, Juria, Maya, and Cocona. All of the members are Japanese and are based in South Korea with a discography sung in English.

Katherine grew up watching Korean dramas and other Asian shows. Although she first learned to appreciate Korean music through OSTs broadcasted locally, it wasn’t until 2011 that she properly paid attention to K-pop. She holds a fondness for SEVENTEEN and NCT and would recommend (G)I-DLE, Dreamcatcher, and XG to whoever cared to listen. She reads just about anything and is currently easing back into full novels.
