Fantagio‘s resident girl group Weki Meki is back for the first time in over a year with their fifth mini-album I AM ME. and the title track “Siesta” on November 18th at 6 p.m. KST.
The album tells the honest story of the group marking their fourth debut anniversary, with the members actively participating in the creative process including planning, writing, and composing.
Title song “Siesta” takes its name from the Spanish word for “nap” and is a bouncy pop track that blends electronic elements with deep house. It is a song that expresses Weki Meki’s ambitions to take a new leap and to provide energy and healing in everyday life the same way a short nap does.
The melodic composition was created by Anna Timgren and Harold Philippon who also contributed to the lyrics alongside Jam Factory’s Lee Nayun and Lim Ga In and Jeong Jooyeon of Music Cube. British-Korean singer-songwriter Sophiya (also known as Sophia Pae) worked on the lyrics and provided vocal direction as well as backing vocals for the songs in the album.
The music video for “Siesta” features a display full of enchantment and wonder with each scene making you feel like you are embarking on an adventure with Weki Meki. The choreography was created by La Chica who has been on a roll since gaining recognition through Mnet’s “Street Woman Fighter,” recently choreographing releases by Ailee, TWICE, T-ARA, and now Weki Meki.
I AM ME. contains six tracks including “Luminous” which is co-composed by members of production team VENDORS including former HOTSHOT member San. “One Day” was co-written and co-composed by Weki Meki leader and main vocal, Suyeon. Sam Carter of Lunafly also participated in the composition and serves as the vocal director on the dreamy synth-pop album closer.
