WATCH: Weki Meki Is Grateful In Ultimate Release “CoinciDestiny” MV

On June 12th at 6 p.m. KST, Weki Meki released their final song before officially disbanding after seven years.

“CoinciDestiny” is a combination of the words “coincide” and “destiny” which represents the relationship between the octet and their fans, who seemingly met by chance but were destined to be together. The electronic pop song is based on hopeful melodies and dreamy synth sounds that convey gratitude for the precious memories built together.

Making the farewell single even more special is the participation of Weki Meki member Suyeon, who took charge of writing and composing “CoinciDestiny.” Additionally, member Rina also participated in the lyrics, which are a heartfelt and affectionate tribute to all the love and support the group has received over the past seven years.

Although Weki Meki debuted in 2017 with the debut single “I don’t like your girlfriend,” their time in the industry dates back to 2012 as part of company Fantagio’s trainee project i-Teen, where they eventually became known as i-Teen Girls. In 2015, members Elly, Yoojung, Doyeon, Lua, and Lucy made cameo appearances in label mate ASTRO‘s pre-debut drama, “To Be Continued.”

In 2016, Elly, Yoojung, Doyeon, and Sei (who at the time was not signed under Fantagio) competed on the very first series of “Produce 101.” Yoojung and Doyeon made it into the top 11 and debuted as members of the temporary group I.O.I until January 2017, six months before Weki Meki’s debut.

In the seven years since, the group has released five mini-albums and numerous singles, as well as expanded their activities into various fields such as OSTs, musicals, dramas, entertainment, and YouTube content. Most recently, Yoojung made her solo debut in September 2022 with the song, “Sunflower.”

Fans are hopeful at the possibility of Weki Meki joining a new company and staying together, as other groups have done in the past. Whatever the future holds, we wish the members all the success in their next chapters!
