In the latest installment of K-pop songs named after food and beverage, boy group WAKER serves up “Vanilla Choco Shake!” The song comes off the group’s second mini-album Sweet Tape released on July 16th at 6 p.m. KST.
“Vanilla Choco Shake” is a funky, band-driven dance-pop track that cools you down on a hot day. While the sophisticated and addictive catchy hook makes it an easy listen.
SoulShock and Sam Gray — whose collective works include the likes of Whitney Houston, Usher, and more — composed the song. Additionally, direction by producer ROHAN made use of WAKER’s unique sensibility and color.
Dessert-themed visuals fill the ZanyBros-directed music video which reflects the references sprinkled throughout the lyrics. The bright, summery feeling mirrors WAKER’s appearance, adding to the refreshing charm of “Vanilla Choco Shake.”
Sweet Tape contains an impressive nine tracks to dive into which is generous for a mini-album, especially from a group that debuted less than a year ago.
