The upcoming Korean film “A Taxi Driver” has released a new trailer!
Top star Song Kang Ho takes the lead alongside Thomas Kretschmann in Director Jang Hoon’s newest film.
The movie is based on the true story of a Korean taxi driver by the name of Kim Sa-Bok and a German reporter named Jürgen Hinzpeter. The reporter covered the events that happened during the Gwangju Democratization Movement, also known as the “Gwangju Massacre,” in 1980— an event where the Gwangju citizens rebelled against the government when local students were beaten and killed by military troops. The Korean driver gets involved when the German reporter became his passenger.
Song Kang Ho (“Snowpiercer”) will be playing the taxi driver who accompanies the German reporter throughout the city as he covers the events happening in Gwangju. Thomas Kretschmann (“King Kong,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron”) will be acting as the German reporter whose job is to give the news to the world about the events in Gwangju in order to call for help from countries overseas.
Director Jang Hoon is known for films “The Front Line,” “Secret Reunion,” and “Rough Cut.” Song Kang Ho already worked with Director Jang Hoon in the film “Secret Reunion.”
Other cast members include Yoo Hae Jin, Ryu Jun Yeol, and Park Hyuk Kwon.
The film is set for release later this year.
