Triple H is back to the “Retro Future” in their new music video!
Members Hui and E’Dawn (who are also members of PENTAGON) and HyunA star in the music video that is equal part funk, eccentricity, voyeurism, and sexual tension. Many of the scenes show the members, along with guest stars for the music video, in strange or sensual scenes, fully embracing the concept of retro future and a generation that dreamed of the future. They are seen coming to the house of a normal, average couple and then pulling them into their futuristic world.
Retro futurism is a trend in creative arts that refers to the era starting in the 1950s when people began to imagine the future and what would come as a result. For example, during that time, many believed that the 2000s would see cars being able to fly, people wearing metallic, minimalist clothing, and artificial intelligence and robots being common in normal households. Retro futurism is depicting those mistaken beliefs in art, comedy, and more. The author of “Retrofuturism and Steampunk” explained it simply, “[If] futurism is sometimes called a ‘science’ bent on anticipating what will come, retrofuturism is the remembering of that anticipation.”
“Retro Future” is the title track off the group’s new album REtro Futurism. It was co-written by HyunA and E’Dawn and composed by Hui.
