Choi Jinwoong is back in action with Director Lee Won Tae’s film “Commander Kim Chang Soo’’.
The film tells the story of the journey of a man named Kim Chang Soo who was imprisoned after killing Queen Myeong Seong’s assassin. In prison, he sees how Koreans are treated badly and persecuted. Provoked by that scene, he feels driven to protect his fellowmen. He becomes a fighter for Korean Independence.
The movie is based on the true story of Kim Chang Soo who later changed his name to Kim Koo, a Korean nationalist politician who is an activist and the leader for Korean Independence movement.
Choi Jin Woong is known for films like “Assassination,” with Jun Ji Hyun and Choi Duk Moon, “Handmaiden,” and “A Man’s Duty,” a film where he won Best Actor in the Baeksang Arts Awards in 2015 and Best Supporting Actor in the Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2014. He is also known for the 2016 hit series “Signal“where he won Daesang (Grand Prize) at the first Asia Artist Awards for his performance.
Other casts include Song Seung Heon, Jeong Man Sik, Jung Jinyoung, Lee Seo Won, Kwak Dong Yeon, Yoo Seung Mok, Shin Jung Keun, and Jeong Gyu Su.
This will be Song Seung Heon’s first role as a villain.
The movie premiers on October 19th under Kidari Entertainment.
