SPECTRUM has released a special video in honor of the late Kim Dongyoon.
On September 6th, the boy group revealed the music video for “Dear My,” the last song that Dongyoon recorded before passing away. The ballad was originally meant to be a gift for fans to thank them for their love and support. Dongyoon himself co-wrote the lyrics for the song, and the track was produced by fellow member Jaehan.
The video shows many clips of Dongyoon with the members and looks back on their friendship and special time together.
Kim Dongyoon debuted with SPECTRUM in May 2018 before also going on the show “MIXNINE” as a contestant. There, he begin to gain a lot of popularity as a talented artist with great potential. After making it the final episode of the show, many people expected great things in his future. However, it came as a shock when just a few weeks after his 20th birthday, the singer was revealed to have passed away on July 27th KST. No official cause for his death was ever revealed to the public.
The rest of the SPECTRUM members released a special letter on social media the day before the video was released, explaining to fans that they wanted this song to be in honor of Dongyoon’s life so that he could always be remembered by fans. They promised that SPECTRUM would continue forth— not as six members, but as seven lights always shining.
