Soyou has returned once again to the music scene— this time with a beautiful cover of a Choi Sungwon track.
On September 7th at 6 p.m. KST, Starship Entertainment released the full music video for “The Blue Night of Jeju Island.” The music video was filmed on Jeju island and shows Soyou together with a male actor. The two keep bumping into each other, as if it were fate, and they soon join together to enjoy each other’s company. We can also see Soyou singing in a recording booth in-between scenes on Jeju’s beautiful beaches.
The song was rearranged by music producer Brother Su. The description of the video states the song is “based on the acoustic sounds of the original song yet with a relaxed feeling and added rhythmical hip-hop drum beats. Using the high pitch vocal samples, the rearrangement is trendy and diverse with electronic guitar sounds in the bridge and base solo in outro.” Soyou’s slightly husky but beautifully smooth voice works well with the memory-filled lyrics to give listeners the feeling of romance on Jeju island.
Soyou decided to stay with her original company, Starship Entertainment, following the official disbandment of SISTAR back in May 2017. This is her second release since then as she was also involved in the song “Right?” from Primary’s recent album, Pop. “The Blue Night of Jeju Island” was released as a cover single and is not part of a full album.
Definitely check out the beautiful music video below, then feel free to let us know what you think!
