On July 22nd at 6 p.m. KST, Jeon Somi finally made her comeback with a single and its music video, “What You Waiting For”!
An R&B dance track that Somi co-wrote and co-composed with prominent music producer Teddy, its lyrics sing about the frustrated thoughts about a person who seemingly likes them back but doesn’t make a move.
Yesterday, The Black Label announced that Somi has signed a contract with US-based company Interscope Records to promote her future activities. A subsidiary of Universal Music Group, the agency also manages artists such as BLACKPINK, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Eminem, Maroon 5, Billie Eilish, and more.
Jeon Somi launched her journey into the K-pop industry by participating as a JYP trainee in the reality shows “SIXTEEN” and “Produce 101.” While she did not manage to debut with TWICE in her first attempt, the singer found success by making to the winning line-up that became the project group, I.O.I. After the disbandment of the experimental team, she moved to her current company and made her debut with “Birthday” in June 2019.
