Artist Heon Seo has participated in composing debut songs for two of this year’s hottest K-pop debuts — NCT WISH and TWS, in addition to other credited works for J-pop group INI, girl group QWER, IKON’s Kim Jinhwan, Stray Kids’ Seungmin and soloist Kim Jaehwan — and has even performed chorus vocals on tracks by SEVENTEEN, Hwang Minhyun, and THE NEW SIX.
Yet, amidst this impressive ever-growing experience the singer-songwriter still has time to put out his own solo music. If you’re a fan of any of the groups or songs mentioned above, you’re likely to enjoy his latest single, “Hero.”
Released on April 27th at noon KST, the upbeat pop track instantly appeals from the opening note. Featuring guitar and synth sounds accompanied by Heon Seo’s sincere vocals and energetic melodies, the sweet and comforting lyrics express being there for someone even while going through difficulties yourself. It conveys the sentiment that “even if I’m falling down, I’ll do anything for you.”
The song was written by Heon Seo and his frequent collaborator and friend INSU, who composed the track with Seo9 (LOGOS). Meanwhile, the latter arranged “Hero” with Park Woo Sang (LOGOS) who is best known for his work as one of MAMAMOO’s main producers.
Since 2020, Heon Seo has been sharing song covers and busking performances on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. He also received a shout-out from Charlie Puth after covering his song “That’s Not How This Works” which has reached over 5 million views collectively across multiple platforms.
Artist Jvke also noticed the singer for covering his track “Golden Hour” and is even followed on TikTok by BTS’ Jungkook, who liked his videos and sent an encouraging message of support to the aspiring artist saying, “I’m rooting for you.”
He released his first single album Midnight In Hawaii in 2021 before returning in 2023 with “I Believed In Love.” Since then, Heon Seo has consistently been releasing new music including tracks like “Onward,” “Blossom,” and “Hijack.”
Most recently, his much loved OST for the Korean dating reality show “EXchange 3 / Transit Love 3” titled “All Blue” ranked 6th on Spotify’s Viral Top 50 chart.
