ONEW is finally back!
On September 3rd at 6 p.m. KST, the SHINee leader made his return with FLOW. The follow-up to the singer’s first full-length album Circle, Billboard’s pick as the number one K-pop album of 2023!
The title track “beat drum” is an upbeat pop number that highlights ONEW’s kitschy vocals blended with synth melodies. The disco-infused drum beat is accompanied by not only the irresistible hook but also impressive rapping performed by the singer himself.
ONEW participated in the lyrics with songwriter Lang Park. The song compares a heartbeat to a drum that beats in its own rhythm in front of someone you’re attracted to. Meanwhile, the composition of “beat drum” is the work of the production duo The Nocturns and musicians Hight and René Miller.
The music video for “beat drum” showcases ONEW’s seemingly endless charm. It is full of feel-good moments that deliver positive energy to the viewer, such as playing the drums along with the groovy beat and the fun choreography executed with satisfying ease.
ONEW’s musicality and artistic growth shine through as the producer of FLOW while also contributing to the lyrics on each of the six tracks which includes the pre-release single, “All Day.”
The release is the first album since ONEW’s return from an almost year-long hiatus, as well as joining new agency Griffin Entertainment for his solo activities.
