WATCH: Rock Band Rolling Quartz Empowers With Hard-Hitting “Stand Up” MV

On April 9th at noon KST, all-girl rock band Rolling Quartz came back with a new digital single “Stand Up,” ahead of their upcoming EP in June.

The song is an in-your-face rock/metal number that’s full of rock spirit and is a track for fans who may be tired of the long wait for new music. It contains both a shuffle rhythm and gutgeori rhythm which is used in traditional Korean folk music — known as a shaman’s song.

Rolling Quartz’s lead guitarist Iree wrote the lyrics with company Rolling Star Entertainment CEO Han Seung Oh who also composed the track. Meanwhile, all the band members worked on the arrangement.

The music video showcases the traditional Korean Bongsan mask dance combined with modern dance, which mirrors the crossover of culture through band music and the lion dance. It also showcases traditional Korean art with images of mother-of-pearl lacquerware, paired with ten traditional symbols of longevity on LED monitors like an Oriental folding screen.

Following successful European and US tours, Rolling Quartz recently performed at their first overseas festival Pump Summer Slam which is the biggest rock festival in the Philippines. In addition to appearing at the 2024 Anime Detour convention in the US city of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The band’s upcoming EP is set for release on June 19th KST. In the meantime, check out the “Stand Up” MV below!
