The ladies of Red Velvet are back with The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday released on November 28th at 6 p.m. KST!
The title track “Birthday” is a trap rhythm-based pop dance song that contains the group’s signature free-spirited and unique vocals. It contains a sample of George Gershwin‘s “Rhapsody in Blue” which is combined with rhythmical drums and cool synth sounds.
The lyrics express the sentiment that “if you’re with me, every day will be as fun as a birthday.” It’s about returning to your favorite person’s birthday and making all the wishes you imagined come true to give them an unforgettable time together. Various keywords referencing previous Red Velvet releases have also been hidden throughout the song.
Lyricist Kim Minji of Jam Factory penned the words to “Birthday” while producers EJAE, KOLE, Isaac Han, Aaron Kim, GHOSTCHILD LTD, and Loosen Door composed the track. The music video is full of whimsical and fantastical elements we have come to expect from Red Velvet’s eccentric videography.
