ONEUS are back with their first full length album DEVIL and the fiery title track, “No Diggity.”
An extension of their previous LIVED album which was released in August last year with lead single “To Be Or Not To Be,” the RBW Entertainment boy group continues to display their growth and ability in sophisticated storytelling through powerful performances and intriguing concepts.
“No Diggity” is a hybrid trap song with heavy guitar riffs over hip-hop beats and bass. Various different musical instruments and symphonic compositions make the track’s strong sound unique from anything ONEUS has released so far.
The song takes an explosive turn in the second half when the intensity rises to a maximum level. Between the powerful musical arrangements, the emphatic vocal harmonies, and the slick choreography, this section delivers a high-tension atmosphere that is overflowing with adrenaline and charisma.
Hong Wonki of Zanybros, who has worked with ONEUS since their 2019 debut, produced the visual showpiece that is the “No Diggity” music video. Attention-grabbing styling, impressive art production, and the free-spirited nature of each member highlights their showmanship and chemistry as a group.
The phrase “No Diggity” means “absolutely, without a doubt,” popularized in the 90’s by American R&B/rap group Blackstreet through the song of the same name.
ONEUS’ Korean title for this track “반박불가” means “unable to be refuted” and this theme is carried throughout the lyrical content which speaks of a love that cannot be denied or defeated.
Written and composed by RBW producers Lee Sangho, Seo Yongbae and Lee Hoosang along with Inner Child of music production team Monotree, all of them contributed significantly in creating the album’s 11 tracks.
Other notable writers and composers who worked on the album include former member of RaNia turned soloist Cosmic Girl, R&B singer-songwriter B.O, and prominent OST musician Runy.
ONEUS members Ravn, Seoho and Leedo also contributed to the lyrics of almost every track on DEVIL, including the pre-released intro “Devil Is In The Detail,” and last year’s digital single, “BBUSYEO.”
