JYP Entertainment‘s newest boy group NEXZ has officially debuted on May 20th at 6 p.m. KST!
Their debut release is their first single album Ride the Vibe and the music video for its title track of the same name.
The song contains NEXZ’s unique “Easy-Experimental” genre, which combines hip-hop-based rhythms with elements of electronica, and features a variety of sounds in a sensual and experimental atmosphere.
Lyrically, “Ride the Vibe” is about the waves of emotions from experiencing something for the first time such as excitement and anxiety that makes your heart race. The seven members encourage listeners to ride on the wave of these new experiences and enjoy the vibes it brings.
It was written by Ellie Suh (153/Joombas), Jang Seungmin (lalala studio), and Miles Barker. The latter artist also arranged the track, in addition to composing the song with prolific K-pop producers e.one (Jung Hohyun) and Hautboi Rich.
Formed through the second season of JYP’s Japanese survival program “Nizi Project,” the group name NEXZ stands for “Next Z(G)eneration).” The final stage song “Miracle” was pre-released last December with Japanese and Korean versions topping various charts in Japan.
