A new girl group is here!
On August 1st at 6 p.m. KST, NewJeans launched into the scene with a mini-album along with the music video for one of its title track, “Cookie.”
The dance pop track sings of making a treat and offering it to someone in an attempt to draw them closer. Their EP will be released digitally today while physical versions of the album are set to hit shelves on August 8th KST.
NewJeans is a five-member group consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. They were introduced under HYBE’s sub-label ADOR and were created under the watchful direction of former SMTOWN creative director, Min Heejin.
Prior to their official debut, they surprised curious spectators by releasing music videos for their second title track, “Hype Boy,” and the B-side track, “Hurt.” They soon garnered more attention for receiving nearly half a million stock pre-orders for their album, the highest recorded for any girl group debut in history.
