The highly-anticipated film “Wonderland” is almost here!
On April 23rd, new teaser photos and a trailer were released for the fantasy film starring Park Bo Gum, Bae Suzy, Choi Woo Shik, Jung Yu Mi, Tang Wei, and more.
The film tells the story of a world that exists with a service called “Wonderland,” a phone service which allows you to call your deceased loved ones and have video calls with them by allowing the service to reconstruct their images through highly advanced artificial intelligence. In the current age of deep fakes and AI, the theme of the movie is intriguing, especially as Koreans have already experimented with something similar in real life and documented it in a reality show called “I Met You.”
In real life, however, the question of ethics comes into play, as does the question of will this really make people happy. K-film fans also anticipate the stories of the characters in “Wonderland” will grapple with similar circumstances, especially as the new teaser photos show them all smiling happily with no sense of sadness but in a state of synthetic happiness. However, the trailer hints at the stories of loss that led up to the characters using the service.
The trailer also serves as an ad for “Wonderland,” telling viewers they can connect with their loved ones at any time and anywhere, further hyping viewers for the film with this unique concept and A-list cast.
The film has been highly-anticipated for quite some time, and the premiere date has finally been set! It will be released in theaters on June 5th!
