WATCH: New Band Xdinary Heroes Makes Killer Debut In “Happy Death Day” MV

JYP Entertainment’s latest rock outfit Xdinary Heroes made a flashy debut on December 6th at 6 p.m. KST.

The six-piece band’s first digital single “Happy Death Day” is a quirky rock track filled with intense and unpredictable sounds. It contains lyrics that parody the shallow nature of people who smile at you, wish you well on your birthday, then turn around and change their expression. It ponders the insincerity of people and invokes a message of living in an authentic and honest way.

Members Jungsu (one of the group’s two keyboardists) and rhythm guitarist Gaon participated in writing and composing. They worked alongside JYPE hit-makers, Lee Haesol and Shim Eunji

Each member was in charge of recording their respective instruments and showcased strong musical abilities. The use of particular techniques such as overlaying three different types of guitars for a rich sound and guttural vocals, sung with staccato effects, amplify the song’s uniqueness.

The whimsical music video establishes the majestic energy of Xdinary Heroes like protagonists in a superhero film. The band’s eye-catching visuals and refreshing color is evident throughout the various scenes which feature an impressive blend of real world and futuristic elements.
