On April 12th, legendary Japanese rockstar MIYAVI dropped an MV for his track “Hush Hush” which features K-pop superstar, Kang Daniel.
The song, originally released last year and appearing on the guitarist’s 13th studio album, Imaginary, is a danceable highlight of the mixture of rock, accompanied by the guitarist’s signature playstyle and well-crafted arrangements.
MIYAVI wrote and produced the track with longtime collaborators JUN, Jeff Miyahara, Lenard Skolnik, and Seann Bowe— whose music credits are so vast and varied that chances are you have listened to something they have worked on before.
Kang Daniel also participated in the writing of “Hush Hush” as it was even made into a Korean version as part of the OST for the Disney+ series “Rookie Cops,” in which the singer-songwriter made his acting debut.
The music video is set in a futuristic, cyberpunk-inspired world and depicts a scrutinized MIYAVI being relentlessly monitored by opposing forces portrayed by Kang Daniel. As the judgments placed upon the rocker worsen, MIYAVI loses his voice, only to find a new one— his guitar— thus empowering him to resume expressing himself boldly!
The high-quality production’s narrative is an inspiring metaphor for the power of self-expression in spite of societal pressures and expectations.
Although you wouldn’t know it by watching, both artists filmed the music video in separate locations in LA and Korea due to travel still being heavily restricted as a result of the pandemic. The completed MV is harmoniously joined together into one cohesive experience thanks to the credit of modern technology and a talented, hardworking team behind the scenes.
Celebrating MIYAVI’s 20th anniversary as a solo artist and the MV release of “Hush Hush,” the musician partnered with KLKTN for a unique expansion of his visual artistry.
“I am excited that the Hush Hush music video is finally coming out. I’m always looking for ways to explore new technologies to showcase my artistic expression. Partnering with KLKTN allowed me to continue to evolve as a visual artist by using new mediums to connect with my audience. To celebrate the release of Hush Hush, we created exclusive content and perks dropping only on KLKTN with more to be released in the future.”
