On July 24th at 6 p.m. KST, second-generation K-pop group KARA made their long-awaited comeback with a new single album and a music video for its title track, “I Do I Do!”

The dreamy song expresses a sincere desire to make someone happy and paints the picture of a warm summery scene full of contentment. Its lyrics were written by Lee Oneul, Lee Seulji, So Doyeon, 329, HOLLIN, Lee Juhyung, Maxx Song, Ciara Muscat, and NILD. Lee Juhyung Maxx Song, Ciara Muscat, and NILD also composed the song.

Aside from “I Do I Do,” the single album also contains the B-Side track “Hello” which explores the sorrows of parting and the joys of meeting again. The song was reportedly supposed to be included in the group’s 2013 album, Full Bloom, but was eventually shelved.

It was rearranged and remastered featuring the original voice of KARA’s late Goo Hara as both a tribute and a way to reunite all six members. Hara has also recorded a solo Japanese version of “Hello” and released it as part of her 2019 single, Midnight Queen, which dropped mere days before her passing.

Katherine grew up watching Korean dramas and other Asian shows. Although she first learned to appreciate Korean music through OSTs broadcasted locally, it wasn’t until 2011 that she properly paid attention to K-pop. She holds a fondness for SEVENTEEN and NCT and would recommend (G)I-DLE, Dreamcatcher, XG, and KISS OF LIFE to whoever cared to listen.
