James Lee has a new song and MV!
On July 27th, the talented musician— who will evidently be promoting simply as James from now on— dropped a music video for his new solo track, “The Light.” The song tells the emotional story of feeling the darkness of life and problems closing in around you and just needing the light to shine in to give you hope. The lyrics seem to tell of James’ own story of his suffering after injuring his hand (among other problems), leading him unable to play the guitar and forcing to leave his group Royal Pirates. This is further emphasized by the music video when shots of hand x-rays are seen flashing through the scenes.
James is well-known for his strong Christian faith and the song seems to be sharing that “The Light” to him was his faith in God. This is shown more clearly as the video comes to an end with the word “John 1:5” on the screen. John 1:5 refers to the Bible verse which states, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (NIV).
“The Light” is the title track of James’ new EP of the same name. The track was co-produced by Enik Lin of Fyke, an artist who previously worked with James during his Royal Pirates days.
