On April 8th, Taeho of K-pop boy group IMFACT dropped a beautiful cover of SHINee Jonghyun‘s emotional hit ballad “End Of A Day” on his YouTube channel.
The singer also posted a very moving comment under the video on how much the vocalist meant to him and how Jonghyun inspires him as an artist.
“Not long ago, I was listening to music on a night when I couldn’t sleep, and suddenly I heard your song.
I fell in love with it and I burst into tears.
I just don’t know why.
It’s a very heartfelt consolation and a warm hug for me.
It felt like my mom and dad’s arms.
So I kept playing this song while I was sleeping.
I’ve been doing music for a long time, and I’m still working really hard. Like you, I want to do music that can comfort someone. I miss you…”
Taeho conveyed his sincerity through every line of his cover, a reminder of just how much of impact Jonghyun had and still has, not only on fans but also on his fellow musicians and idols.
“End Of A Day” was originally released in 2015 as the lead single from Jonghyun’s compilation album Story Op.1, a collection of songs he shared with listeners on his beloved “Blue Night” radio program.
While Jonghyun’s unique and authentic vocals remains beloved, him personally expressing the words he wrote himself over his own self-composed music, Taeho’s rendition of what many consider to be a perfect song is a heartwarming tribute and wonderful gift on what would have been Jonghyun’s 30th birthday.
