On September 9th at 6 p.m. KST, P Nation powercouple HyunA and DAWN released their collaborative album and a music video for its title track, “PING PONG.”
The moombahton dance track is infused with 808 bass and talks about the passionate compatibility between a couple while being written by the singers themselves. HyunA and DAWN also took part in composing the song alongside Yoo Gunhyung, Kwon Philip, and SPACE ONE.
1+1=1 is the pair’s first joint mini-album and boasts four titles in total. HyunA lent a hand in composing for “PING PONG” and “XOXO” and wrote lyrics for “PING PONG,” “XOXO,” and “I Know.” Meanwhile, DAWN worked on all four tracks as co-writer and co-composer.
HyunA is a soloist who previously debuted with girl groups Wonder Girls and 4minute, as well as sub-units Troublemaker and Triple H. DAWN, on the other hand, started out with the idol group PENTAGON and joined HyunA as a member in co-ed trio, Triple H, alongside bandmate Hui.
The two started dating in 2016 and left Cube Entertainment together in October 2018. They both signed with P Nation in January 2019 where they had been steadily releasing individual and collaboration pieces. HyunA last dropped “I’m Not Cool” in January 2021 while DAWN unveiled “Dawndididawn” in October 2020.
