Soloist Hong Eunki of “Produce 101 Season 2” and RAINZ fame has returned with his fourth single “On&On” on January 5th at 12 p.m. KST.
The track is electrifyingly catchy as it utilizes deep house genre with addictive lyrics that sing of a repeated push-and-pull within a relationship which seems unable to progress.
Based on Cinderella, the overall concept explores the themes of true beauty being trapped inside of oneself with a contemporary take on the classic story. Through the perfect blend of powerful choreography and a strong performance, in addition to fashion which incorporates details representative of conventional femininity, Eunki is able to transform and present a male version of the Cinderella image.
“On&On” was written, composed, and arranged by musician Lee Gun who performed every instrument on the track himself while also participating in the chorus. His previous works include OSTs for “Crash Landing On You” and “My Uncanny Counter” but the creative process for “On&On” in particular helped him grow and learn a lot as revealed in an Instagram post.
He adds that the song required a lot of effort and at the time of completion, undergoing seven mixes and three recordings to become the stellar track it is today. All that effort matched with Hong Eunki’s unique talents and charms has undeniably paid off in spades!
