WATCH: HIGHLIGHT Declares It’s “Not The End” In Powerful Return MV

Returning as a full group for the first time in almost four years, HIGHLIGHT presented their third mini-album, The Blowing, and its title track “Not The End” on May 3rd at 6 p.m. KST.

The song contains a message of hope that expresses, just like spring comes amidst a cold winter, “I am still here and this is not the end but rather a brand new beginning.” It is a strong message for fans who have waited for the group to return from their military service.

Member Lee Gikwang heavily participated in the production on the mini-album, even taking part in the creation of the title song’s choreography seen in the music video. He wrote and composed “Not The End” with Yoo Chanyang (Pollen) and Lavin.

Other notable songs on the record include the closing track “Surf,” which is a jazzy, neo-soul infused urban pop number written and composed by youngest member, Dongwoon. The song’s witty lyrics compare difficult events and situations in life to waves.

Additionally, Kim Sooyoon and Moon Kim of Royal Pirates fame worked on the guitar-centric, pop-rock track “Hey Yeah,” a track which Gikwang also participated in through writing and composing.

HIGHLIGHT celebrated their long-anticipated comeback with an online press conference where they talked about their 13 years working together and how the industry has changed since then.

They also described how they gained strength from SHINee’s recent comeback and are also excited for 2PM’s upcoming return. All three groups debuted around the same time and were active together, often crossing paths while promoting. As a result, they became good friends throughout the years. HIGHLIGHT expressed their desire to show the four of them happily on their way to an even longer career by consistently performing and churning out good music.
