WATCH: Heize Paints A Picture Of Melancholy With “Swallowing Tears” MV

On September 24th KST, Heize released a remake of the classic Lee Sooyoung song, “Swallowing Tears.”

The track was originally introduced in 2003 and is a piece that captures the bittersweet emotions of someone who has just broken up with their lover. Heize’s version features a dramatic string melody, accordion sounds, and an acoustic guitar and piano arrangement. She also took charge of the vocal direction during recording which gives the remake her very distinct musical style.

Heize’s “Swallowing Tears” is part of the “About Love” collaborative project by singer-songwriter and producer Sim Hyunbo. “About Love” unveils remakes of his hit songs by various musicians as a way to celebrate 25 years of him being in the industry.

Katherine grew up watching Korean dramas and other Asian shows. Although she first learned to appreciate Korean music through OSTs broadcasted locally, it wasn’t until 2011 that she properly paid attention to K-pop. She holds a fondness for SEVENTEEN and NCT and would recommend (G)I-DLE, Dreamcatcher, XG, and KISS OF LIFE to whoever cared to listen.
