Making his return with his first original song in over two years, talented soloist Kisu released the single “Boy” on January 29th at 2 p.m. KST!

The elegant pop ballad was produced and composed by Kisu himself, who also wrote the lyrics with Choi Rin of co-ed duo Almeng. The pair previously worked together back in 2017 when Almeng featured on a B-side track off Kisu’s first solo album, Sweet Lie.

“Boy” tells the very relatable story of how different the reality of being an adult is compared to the perception we had as children. Kisu relays a vulnerability as he reflects on how he once looked at adults as being strong and fearless. Now that he has reached adulthood himself, he struggles to find those qualities and still feels like a young boy inside.

Kisu’s clean and clear vocals are outstanding, perfectly harmonizing with the simple piano melody and acoustic guitar riffs. The elements flow together to create an immersive and impactful soundtrack to the raw emotions conveyed through the lyrics and accompanying music video.

The song was arranged by Park Janghyun, known best as new-age artist Somebody’s Tale. They also worked with Kisu on his first solo album and subsequent winter single, entitled “Goodbye,” which was released prior to the singer’s enlistment in 2018.

The dreamy and cinematic music video for “Boy” contains luscious green landscapes and scenery. It stars young actor Shim Hyunseo who is known in Korea for playing the lead role in the musical “Billy Elliot.”

As the former main vocalist of idol boy group 24K from 2012 to 2017, Kisu is beloved by K-pop fans both in Korea and worldwide. The release of brand new music from the singer sent a wave of anticipation through his dedicated followers who had been looking forward to his return.

Following the completion of his military enlistment, the singer has been active on his YouTube channel where he posts a wide variety of cover songs. He took to social media to relay his gratitude in conjunction with the release of “Boy” with a promise to “sing more great songs for you!”

Congratulations to Kisu on his offical return to the music scene! Check out the MV for “Boy” below!
