WATCH: Epic Trailer Released For New Drama By “Goblin” Writer

The trailer for “Mr. Sunshine” has been revealed!

On February 15th, tvN released the trailer for the highly anticipated drama. The drama is a joint effort from writer Kim Eun Sook and director Lee Eung Bo, the creative minds behind the epic dramas “Descendants of the Sun” and “Goblin.” After the back-to-back hits with these dramas and the ensuing success of actors Song Joong Ki and Gong Yoo, many Korean celebrities were eager to be involved in the writer-producer team’s next drama. However, the starring role ultimately went to one of Korea’s most in-demand stars, Lee Byung Hun (“The Magnificent Seven”), an actor who eventually turned his hand to American films as well. This marks Mr. Lee’s first return to Korean TV since his lead role in “Iris” in 2009.

The film revolves around the story of a Korean-born man named Eugene Choi (Lee Byung Hun) who was born as a slave and later leaves for the U.S.A. in 1871, eventually joining the American military and returning to Korea as a soldier. Go Ae Shin (Kim Tae Ri of “The Handmaiden”) is the respected daughter of a wealthy nobleman. She is engaged to Kim Hee Sung, a role played by Byun Yo Han (“Phantom Detective”). Good Dong Mae, the leader of the Black Dragon Society in the film, is played by actor Yoo Yeon Seok (“Romantic Doctor Kim”).

“Mr. Sunshine” will begin airing in July 2018.
