WATCH: Co-Ed Group CHECKMATE Return As A Quartet With “You” MV

CHECKMATE has released their 2nd single album on March 29th at 12 p.m. KST with title track, “You.” 

Hitting the scene back in September of 2020 to join the rarity that is co-ed groups in the K-pop industry and despite weathering the departure of members Nason and Haechang, the Grace Company group returned with more intense charms! 

“You” is a hip-hop track based on guitar that highlights CHECKMATE’s personality and unity as a team. The concept of the song is about two men and two women dancing together passionately at a party to a sensual beat. Those beats combined with each members’ captivating voices and individual styles will sure satisfy their steadily growing number of global fans.

Popular lyric writing team Danke as well as producer Stardust who worked on the group’s debut song, “Drum,” returned to create this track. In addition, composer Michelle Bastiansen who has previously worked with MONSTA X on “Fantasia” also added his own magic to the music.

CHECKMATE’s You also features the B-side titled “Drum (New)” which is a re-recorded version of their debut track with the group’s current four member line-up.
