On March 29th at 6 p.m. KST, BTS‘s J-Hope released his special album along with a music video for its title track, “NEURON!”
The song is of the old-school 2000s hip-hop genre that J-Hope drew the most influence from. It sings about tracing back his roots in music, the things that keep him going, and the hopes that come with a new beginning.
According to his agency, “NEURON” is also a reference to J-Hope’s pre-debut dance crew and its pronunciation is similar to “new run” which appears in the song’s lyrics.
HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1 contains seven tracks in total and was created alongside the documentary series “HOPE ON THE STREET.” The show told the story of J-Hope’s experience with street dance and how his art developed into the form that it is now. He personally wrote lyrics for each song in the album.
J-Hope previously released Jack In The Box (HOPE Edition) seven months ago, in August 2023.

Katherine grew up watching Korean dramas and other Asian shows. Although she first learned to appreciate Korean music through OSTs broadcasted locally, it wasn’t until 2011 that she properly paid attention to K-pop. She holds a fondness for SEVENTEEN and NCT and would recommend (G)I-DLE, Dreamcatcher, and XG to whoever cared to listen. She reads just about anything and is currently easing back into full novels.
