Agust D is back with a bang!
On May 22nd at 6 p.m. KST, BTS‘ Suga returned under his alias with a fresh mixtape and a music video for its lead track, “Daechwita.”
The word “daechwita” means “great blowing and hitting.” It is a genre of traditional music made by wind and percussion instruments for a king’s parade and military ceremonies, usually played while marching.
Agust D’s “Daechwita” channels the traditional sound and coupled it with more modern trap music. The single’s fierce lyrics talk about rising up from humble beginnings, shrugging off rumors, and continuing to enjoy a wild but successful career.
D-2 is Agust D’s second mixtape and lists a total of ten tracks spanning several genres. He first released a self-named mixtape back in 2016.
