BTS‘ j-hope dropped his highly-anticipated first album Jack In The Box on July 15th at 1 p.m KST. featuring double title tracks, “MORE” and “Arson”!
The latter is an old-school hip-hop song that tells the story of j-hope as he collects his thoughts as he stares down a crossroads in his journey. It contains a strong energy that actually closes out the album with the rapper confronting a choice of either letting passion burn out or continue to ignite and commit “arson” on the world.
j-hope was heavily involved in the creation and direction of the entire record including writing, composing, and planning the album. Additionally, he outlined the music video concept and design.
Jack In The Box is the first major release from the members since BTS announced a “hiatus” last month during “BTS FESTA 2022,” an event held to celebrate their ninth anniversary with fans.
The members revealed they would instead be focusing on respective solo projects and activities. Evidently, Jungkook’s feature on Charlie Puth’s “Left and Right” and V’s attendance at Paris Fashion Week as well as the upcoming spin-off of “In The Soop.”
j-hope will perform at the “Lollapalooza 2022” on July 31st, marking the first time in history a South Korean artist headlines the main stage at a major U.S. music festival.
