On May 24th at 6 p.m KST, new boy group BLANK2Y hit the ground running with “Thumbs Up”!
The title track is a trap song boasting a confident message of “we are all the best.” Fittingly, the group’s first mini-album is titled K2Y I: CONFIDENCE［Thumbs Up] and is the opening installment of a K2Y Trilogy.
Although freshly debuted, most of BLANK2Y’s nine members have appeared on survival programs such as “Under19” (Louis), “Wild Idol” and “Produce X 101” (Siwoo), “Produce 101 Japan” (Mikey), and “I-Land” (Youngbin).
Meanwhile, Donghyuk previously debuted in the now-disbanded group ENOi (as Avin), Louis was in 1the9, and Sungjun was a former member of pre-debut teams, Woollim Rookies and WProject4. The latter eventually became part of DRIPPIN.
K2Y I : CONFIDENCE［Thumbs Up] was executively produced by CiELO of the rising production team CIELOGROOVE, which primarily consists of experienced artists and survival show alumni.
Production members include NOIR’s Hoyeon (under pseudonym BigsharKK), ex-We In The Zone and member of “Wild Idol” winning team, TAN – Jooan. “Produce 101 Season 2” & “I-Land” contestant ON (Seon Choi) and composers OLDTABLE, Moode, and IRIS are also part of the crew.
Moreover, ex-RAINZ and GIDONGDAE member-turned-soloist ONE.KI (Kiwon), Korean hip-hop artist GLABINGO, and producers Flum3n, Will!, and KIMISA, participated in writing and composing for the Keystone Entertainment group’s debut album.
Amongst the five songs featured on K2Y I : CONFIDENCE［Thumbs Up] is an English version of the title track “Thumbs Up” for global fans and the special fan song titled “Constellation.”
With their collective talents and impressive credentials all, it’s no wonder BLANK2Y already has a legion of fans as one of the most highly-anticipated K-pop debuts of 2022!
