BLACKPINK kickstarts the main event for their long-awaited comeback!
On September 16th at 1 p.m. KST, the YG Entertainment group unveiled their second full album and the music video for its title track, “Shut Down.”
The song oozes cool charisma as the girls address the spiteful people that try to tear them down while making it clear that they’re not about to bow down to the hate. It was written by TEDDY, Danny Chung, and Vince while TEDDY and 24 took charge of the composition.
“La Campanella,” a classical melody by Italian composer and violinist Niccolò Paganini, was sampled in the melody and combined with hip-hop elements to create a unique sound for BLACKPINK’s return. The music video for “Shut Down” adds an additional layer of excitement for fans by inserting several style references to the group’s previous songs.
BORN PINK is BLACKPINK’s second studio album and contains an eight-piece playlist, including the pre-released single, “Pink Venom.” The group last returned with The Album in 2020 with its title track, “Lovesick Girls.”
After this comeback, BLACKPINK is set to embark on their 2022 “BORN PINK” world tour with schedules already announced for North America and Europe. More stops for Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand will be revealed next year.
