WATCH: BLACKPINK Gets Vulnerable In New “Lovesick Girls” MV

BLACKPINK is back with a new video!

On October 2nd, the famous YG Entertainment girl group released the music video for “Lovesick Girls.” The song shows off a new sound for the group, playing with a sophisticated and emotional concept. BLACKPINK is a group typically known for their upbeat title tracks and lyrics which balance perfectly between fierce girl power and the swag-filled bragging more typical of hip-hop tracks.

In “Lovesick Girls,” however, BLACKPINK explores thoughts that almost all young people can relate to: the lonely feelings that love is something that just isn’t meant to be in your life, yet it’s something you can’t help but wish for anyways. With lyrics such as, “Yeah we were born to be alone, But why we still looking for love,” BLACKPINK delicately expresses a vulnerable side, thus showing a new maturity in their music.

Meanwhile, the video itself is shot fluctuates between hazy, lighter scenes of good memories versus darker scenes where the members are suffering in the present.

“Lovesick Girls” is the title track off the group’s new studio album, entitled THE ALBUM, which marks the their first full-length album to be released since their debut.
