On January 11th at 12 p.m. KST, BIGFLO‘s main vocalist, Lex, made his solo debut with the release of his first single album titled 10&going and the music video for its title track “Sip.”
The song expresses the thrill of embarking on a new beginning and sends a timely message of positivity, urging the listener to keep moving forward when faced with challenging days when things don’t work out as well as you hoped.
Lex wrote the lyrics based on his own experience ten years ago, of returning to Korea from Toronto, Canada to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. This is reflected in the name 10&going as well as the song title “Sip” meaning number 10 in Korean.
Composed by producer Distract and singer-songwriter Sophiya, the powerful mid-tempo track is layered with melodic synths and funky guitar riffs. Seemingly floating over the addictive beat is Lex’s smooth and mesmerizing vocal tone which is further elevated by his luxurious harmonies.
Making his idol debut in 2017, Lex was one of three new members added to the line-up of HO Company’s BIGFLO, alongside former A.Cian and UNB member Euijin and former member of boy group A.ble, Sungmin. Lex competed on idol rebooting program “The Unit” with Euijin and former member, Z-Uk. The group is currently on hiatus and focusing on individual activities.
In addition to BIGFLO, Lex has been a popular radio DJ on “Arirang Radio” for many years, taking over from ZE:A’s Kevin as the host of midnight program “Hot Beat.” He then became the host of “Music Access” last year after the former host, ex-B.I.G. member Benji, stepped down.
As if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Lex runs a YouTube channel with fellow BIGFLO member Sungmin called “Mintwo Studio” as well as his own solo channel, “relax with Lex.” He has also starred in two musicals in Korea, “Forte Pianissimo” and “Mama New York.” Lex was recently announced as a cast member in the upcoming BL web drama, “You Make Me Dance.”
