YG Entertainment introduces their latest girl group!
On November 27th at 12 a.m. KST, BABYMONSTER made their long-awaited debut with the digital single and its music video, “BATTER UP.”
The song is a dynamic hip-hop track that expresses the group’s confidence and bold ambition as they take to the stage to introduce their brand of music. Jared Lee, YG, TREASURE‘s Choi Hyunseok, AKMU‘s Lee Chanhyuk, WHERE THE NOISE, BIGTONE, and BABYMONSTER’s Asa worked together to write the lyrics while Chaz Mishan, YG, DEE.P, Jared Lee, and BABYMONSTER’s Asa composed the track.
BABYMONSTER, also called “Baemon,” is a seven-member girl group under YG Entertainment that consists of Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita. Ahyeon, while listed as a member, will not be joining the group’s debut and promotional activities due to health issues as stated by their agency. The team released the pre-debut single “DREAM” back in May.

Katherine grew up watching Korean dramas and other Asian shows. Although she first learned to appreciate Korean music through OSTs broadcasted locally, it wasn’t until 2011 that she properly paid attention to K-pop. She holds a fondness for SEVENTEEN and NCT and would recommend (G)I-DLE, Dreamcatcher, and XG to whoever cared to listen. She reads just about anything and is currently easing back into full novels.
