On June 12th at 6 p.m. KST, following months of online content including vlogs, dance covers, and video call events, Choeun Entertainment‘s 24K finally introduced their first original song since the group’s big line-up changes.
“Welcome To The Mainstreet” is not a re-debut or even a comeback, in fact, the special digital single was released in commemoration of a newly-opened cafe in Korea called Mainstreet.
The catchy pop sound of the song delivers a bright and positive energy in combination with addictive lyrics. The feel-good atmosphere of the track evokes a feeling of K-pop nostalgia which fits the group since they originally made their debut in 2012.
The group showcases a fun choreography and reveal their chemistry as a revamped 5-membered team in the music video. 24K expresses a lively performance while sporting cute and vibrant visuals as they make their way through the New York-themed café.
Longtime fans are celebrating the song as it is the first to include new members Youngwoong, Imchan, and Xiwoo as well as existing members Changsun and Kiyong.
24K experienced various member changes over the years. Notable members included Cory (28Laboratory’s Corbyn), Daeil (now known as rapper BIGONE), Jeonguk (now soloist Kim Jeong_uk), Hui (now active in his homeland China as Lianghui), and vocalist Kisu.
24K’s original line-up is noted as being one of the first “self-producing” K-pop groups. With a few exceptions in their earliest work, the members themselves produced, wrote, composed, and choreographed the majority of their discography.
“Welcome To The Mainstreet” marks the start of a new chapter in 24K’s story. We hope to see more new music from the group soon and even a fully-fledged comeback in the future!
