After struggling to hold the attention of viewers after its initial booming success, the Korean drama “Uncontrollably Fond” saw an increase in viewers’ ratings for the series finale.
While the program saw its lowest ratings of the season among Seoul viewers during last week’s episode, many fans tuned in this week to see how the bittersweet drama would finally end. According to the Nielson Korea scale, the program scored 10.08% of viewers in Seoul and 9.41% nationwide.
Despite lower ratings in Korea, the program has proved popular with international audiences, especially as the program’s story continued to develop. Starring talented actor and model Kim Woo Bin and actress and singer Bae Suzy, the program told the tale of two high school sweethearts who separate due to circumstances beyond their control. Years later, the two reunite. One is an egotistical superstar, while the other is a struggling producer with a mountain of debt. The twist? Kim Woo Bin’s character has just been diagnosed with a brain tumor and wonders if he can set things straight with his former love before the disease claims his life.
