“The Closet” Becomes The Most-Watched Movie Of The Week In Korea In Just Four Days

The new Korean film “The Closet” is off to a solid start!

On February 9th, the past week’s box office ratings in Korea were released, revealing that “The Closet” took the number one spot of the week despite only being released four days ago! That means that it was able to achieve a larger audience in just four days than other films were able to achieve in the entire week. Of special note is the fact that “The Closet” also beat out the Hollywood film “Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn.” The American movie — which is a spin-off of the hit film “Suicide Squad” — was also released four days ago, but it raked in less than half of the number of viewers that saw “The Closet.”

“The Closet” is a horror film that follows the events of a man named Sang Won. After the death of his wife, he grows distant from his young daughter who begins to act strangely and talk about an imaginary friend. Meanwhile, Sang Won starts to suffer from nightmares and also begins to hear odd noises coming from his daughter’s closet. When his daughter mysteriously disappears, he must use the help of a priest who claims to know where his daughter is hiding.

The film stars famous actor Ha Jung Woo (“Along With The Gods” series, “Ashfall”), Kim Nam Gil (“Memoir of a Murderer,” “The Fiery Priest”), and rookie actress Heo Yool (“The Guest,” “Mother”).

In the meantime, the other films that make up the top three movies of the week in South Korea are the political film “The Man Standing Next” starring Lee Byung Hun and the comedy action movie “Hitman: Agent Jun” starring Kwon Sang Woo.
