Super Junior has won an award at the Premios Luces 2018, proving their popularity in Latin and South America.
On February 12th, it was announced that the group won Best Concert of 2018. Premios Luces are awards given each year for the very best in music, television, film, literature, theater, and more in Peru. The awards are organized by the 180-year-old newspaper El Comercio.
This year, Super Junior was up against a variety of artists, such as Latin stars Daddy Yankee, Maluma, and Marc Anthony. Other foreign artists nominated included Katy Perry and Radiohead. However, Super Junior was the only Korean artist to be nominated and ultimately the one to take the prize for their “Super Show 7” tour that marked their second concert in Peru.
Super Junior has long been famous for their massive scale concerts and excellent stage presence that leaves fans entertained for hours. However, according to El Comercio, among the reasons that made the show win Best Concert was the impressive technology of the concert like lights and sound, as well as the professionalism of the group. They also made mention of the fact that Super Junior, despite their tiring schedule and long hours of travel to reach Peru, greeted all their fans with big smiles.
In addition, the event organizers also made special mention of Super Junior’s fans know as ELF, stating that something that sets Super Junior apart is the close relationship the group and their fans have with each other. “They [the fans] are the ones who keep the flame alive for one of the most renowned groups in Asian music,” they stated.
The winners of Premios Luces 2018 were all announced via the gala event held in Lima.
Congratulations to Super Junior!
