ORIGINAL: Great news for Super Junior fans! Popular member Sungmin, who has been on hiatus, will be making his return to the music scene with a new track for SM STATION!
On February 26th, SMTOWN announced through a new teaser image that Sungmin would be releasing a new track entitled “Day Dream.” The soft, hazy picture shows the handsome star sitting at a piano and looking off dreamily into the distance. The song is said to be a warm, feel-good sound as it talks about the hope we find in our dreams.
The singer married musical actress Kim Sa-eun in December of 2015. He continued touring with Super Junior for their Super Show 6 tour until March of 2016 when he enlisted in the military. After being released from the military, he did not rejoin Super Junior activities due to a large fanbase in Korea saying they would boycott the group if Sungmin was allowed to rejoin. This was due to the fact that Sungmin got married, leaving some fans offended at the way the announcement was handled. Although the vast majority of international fans were not in agreement with the demands of the fanbase in Korea, Sungmin felt it was better to withdraw for the time being so as not to cause issues for the rest of his members.
With Sungmin recently launching his own YouTube channel and now making his comeback to the music scene with a new single for SM STATION, many fans are wondering if this is the label’s way of testing the waters to see how Korean fans will react at him becoming more active again. Undoubtedly, most international fans will be thrilled since numerous petitions, hashtags, and projects have been launched to show their support for Sungmin and the rest of Super Junior.
“Day Dream” will be released on March 2nd at 6 p.m. KST.
